-Costume Designer Dan Lester began his career managing a boutique at Fred Segal in Hollywood, California. While there he met a number of film industry artists and was encouraged to join their ranks. Lester took a job at Western Costume Company and helped to prepare many films and TV productions. After leaving Western, he worked in both mediums with highly respected designers like Grady Hunt, Theodora Van Runkle, Marianne Elliot and Moss Mabry. Eventually, Lester met and worked with Marilyn Vance on a string of very successful films including The Untouchables, Pretty Woman, Uncle Buck and The Rocketeer. -Lester was accepted into The Costume Designers Guild, and continued a professional association with Ms. Vance on The Getaway, Little Monsters, Judgement Night, Used People and Sommersby. During this period, Lester received his first Emmy nomination for his work on the miniseries Dallas, The Early Years. His first solo feature film design credit was on Peter Hyams' sci-fi film Timecop. Lester and Hyams have since worked together twice, on The Relic and Sudden Death. Lester worked again with Jon Amiel on the adventure-thriller The Core. Lester often works with production designer Phillip Harrison, for example on Spawn, The Relic, Timecop, Sudden Death and The Core. Lester has worked with director Danny Canon on I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, as well as the pilots to the hit series C.S.I., and Eleventh Hour..Lester has worked all over the world, including Jordan,Argentina,South Africa,Nabibia,Mexico,Canada and in India on the fantasy film The Return Of The Thief Of Bagdad. -Recently , Lester is probably best known for his work on military themed films based in the Middle-East. Lester worked on the military films "12 Strong","Man Down", "Zero Dark 30" and "The Hurt Locker".Lester assisted George Little on both "Zero Dark 30" and "Hurt Locker".In 2018 Lester designed the fantasy TV series "Once Upon A Time" and received a Costume Designers Guild nomination for best fantasy costumes.
