Bohumil Hrabal was born on March 28, 1914 in Brünn, Austria-Hungary as Bohumil Frantisek Kilian. He was a writer and actor, known for Closely Watched Trains (1966), Krasosmutnení and Larks on a String (1969). He was married to Eliska Hrabalová. He died on February 3, 1997 in Prague, Czech Republic.
