Brent served in the Army as an airborne Ranger. He was stationed around the country at various bases to include Fort Bragg with the 82nd airborne, Fort Campbell with the 101st airborne, air assault, and Hunter Army Airfield with the 1st Ranger battalion. After retiring in 2002, he got his masters in education and taught high school science in Virginia Beach for 15 years. He volunteered with many organizations as a teacher to include NOAA, USGS and VIMS. He also volunteered as a police chaplain with the Virginia Beach police department as well as the Virginia Beach community emergency response team. He resides in Idaho with his wife where he serves as a volunteer fire fighter with wilderness ranch fire protection district as well as an ambulance driver and EMT for the East Boise County Ambulance District and the quick reaction unit for the fire department.
