Christine Cuddy handles business negotiations and other legal matters for clients in the motion picture, television, videogame and book publishing industries. Such clients include authors of both fiction and non-fiction books, as well as theatrical and television writers and directors. Among her clients are Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy winning writers, a Pulitzer Prize winning author, and several authors who regularly appear on the New York Times Best Seller List. She also represents video game companies and independent motion picture production companies. Ms. Cuddy specializes in copyright matters, and frequently represents copyright owners with respect to the exploitation of their literary material. She also reviews chains-of-title to assist clients in the evaluation of the rights for theatrical and television remakes and sequels. She also regularly represents both established and emerging screenwriters in dealings with both major studios and independent companies. Ms. Cuddy has a long track record of representing authors who have successfully sold their books to production companies. She is counsel to George R.R. Martin, whose novels have been transformed into one of the most popular shows in the history of television, "Game of Thrones." She is also counsel to Anne Rice and negotiated the deal with AMC for a television series based on "Interview with the Vampire" and "The Witching Hour." Ms. Cuddy also frequently handles matters related to the Writers Guild of America Agreement. She is counsel to Peter Barsocchini, and negotiated the deal with Disney for the sale of his separated rights to "High School Musical," one of the most successful television movies of all time. Ms. Cuddy is perennially selected for inclusion in Thomson Reuters' Southern California "Super Lawyers" and U.S. News & World Report's "The Best Lawyers in America," which ranks her among the top lawyers in the nation. She was named one of the top 50 women attorneys in Southern California by Los Angeles Magazine in 2021. Ms. Cuddy, a Martindale Hubbell "AV Preeminent" attorney, graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School. She has given numerous courses at UCLA Extension on various topics relating to the motion picture and television industries. Ms. Cuddy is a member of the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles Copyright Society and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
