John Ruddock was born on New Year's Eve in 1983 to his parents Stephen and Deborah. His father is the Director of Marketing at FileMaker and his mother works for the State of California. He has a younger brother Will, who was born in 1987. John moved to Half Moon Bay, California in 1989 where he grew up. He first became interested in making movies in 1997 during a summer vacation to Kuai. Since then, he has made over ten films on his travels around the world. He has been to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, the East Coast, Canada, England, France, Ireland, and Holland. He traveled to East Africa at the age of 17 where he went on a month long safari spending two weeks each in Tanzania and Kenya. He then completed a feature length documentary on his trip in August of 2003. Since then he has been attending San Jose State University where he is majoring in film. In the summer of 2004, he directed and acted in a short film entitled "The Black Beanie." He is currently in preproduction of a longer film which he intends to direct and act in as well.
