Keena, and sibling Aiko, were abandoned at 4 weeks old along a highway in southern Iowa. Rescued by a passerby, they were brought to the Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary & Rescue where they were given a chance at life. Both dogs are believed to be products of poor breeding causing bone structure problems including hip dysplasia and dumped in a ditch. Not only has Keena proven to be strong and healthy, she also is an all black dog, which is the most common dog passed over in shelters and rescues for adoption. Aiko, her sibling was adopted by a loving family, and both Keena & Aiko often have play dates. Keena has proven that shelter/rescue dogs, mixed breeds, and all black can make wonderful, well-trained companions. Keena serves as the RVAS Canine Ambassador, where she tours around the state teaching dog safety to children, and is an example of Cesar Millan's Philosophy of a healthy and "balanced" dog.
