Kate is a budding filmmaker from the Lake District in the UK. Over the years, Kate has networked and met with a variety of people in the film/TV industry, (including actors: Alan Rickman, Renée Zellweger and Adrienne Wilkinson), has attended film sets (including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at Leavesden Studios), and premieres (including the world premiere of fan film, Tomb Raider Ascension in Birmingham.) In September 2009, she took her first steps in to the industry by playing a small part in feature film, "The Kindness of Strangers" which premiered at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in May 2010, and later, in October, won 4 awards in the International Filmmakers Festival of World Cinema in Kent. It then had it's US premiere at the Silent River Film Festival in LA on 10th September 2011 and won "Best Film" and "Best Director". Kate is now currenty working on her debut film for the Old Laundry Theatre short film showcase in 2013. As well as filmmaking, Kate also has passions for video editing, photography, photo manipulation/composites, composing music on piano and cosplay. Cosplay (costume-play) is a combination of acting, modelling and costume development. Mostly in the form of photoshoots, it consists of playing the role of a fictional or factual character - whether it be from novels, films, TV series, games etc...or something of your own creation. Kate first discovered this unique concept in 2007 and shortly after, began doing her own projects. It has given her the chance to explore the different areas that go into film, including working on other skills such as acting and being in front of the camera. Most of her costumes have been those of Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) - a character she has known since the age of 8. During this time, Kate has also networked with a number of cosplayers around the world, along with professional models, look-a-likes, photographers and authors (including Dean Koontz and Jill Bretherton.) This lead to her being invited by Tomb Raider game developers, Crystal Dynamics, to a private preview of the upcoming re-imagining at the Square Enix Europe offices in London in 2011- where she was able to meet cosplayers and those in the Tomb Raider community in person for the first time. She was then invited to the Crystal Dynamics main offices in San Fancisco for a VIP tour - which will hopefully take place soon.
