Maureen (Esther) O'Connor was born April 3, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Sarah and Henry O'Connor. She is the youngest of five children, Kathleen, Deborah, Timothy, and Eileen. The family lived in New Jersey until she was 12, when her father took at job in Houston, and Maureen lived there from ages 13 to 23. In H.S. and college she spent time in varying plays and sang with her church choir. Moving to Massachusetts, she met her daughter Virginia's father, but they never married. As a single parent, Maureen toed the line, working during the day and going to college at night, and she wasn't able to pursue her passion for acting; yet she did dabble in community theatre, sometimes as costumer and prop maker, sometimes on the stage. It wasn't until 2006 she moved back home to Philadelphia and began checking out what was available in local theatre, as well as working as an extra on myriad network series in NYC and Baltimore. In 2018, she landed a meaty little role in "Lost Dog", a Temple University graduate student film by Mark Kaercher, his thesis project. In 12 minutes, as one of two protagonists, she managed to frighten many with her cold, calculating demeanor as Terry. Also in the mix was a funny episode in "Run for Your Life!" a satire on dating in the modern world, Maureen was "Doris", a... well, was she an ex-client? An ex-girlfriend? It wasn't very clear, but the Guru was definitely out there on his views on women! In 2020, she landed the role of Blanche Woods in "Used and Borrowed Time", an ensemble film set mostly in rural 1965 Alabama. The Covid crisis of 2020 affected Maureen along with the rest of the country, but Director Sophia Romma has submitted the film to the Sundance Movie Festival and the WPRN Women's Movie Festival in New York, as well as a Movie Festival in Oaxaca, Mexico. All will be online this year.
